Gardening with Vintage and Antique Objects:

How to Make Your Garden Stand Out

Anything Can Be a Container.

You don’t have to have acres of land to have a flourishing garden. Container gardening can be a great alternative for those living in an urban setting or an apartment. When you open your mind to possibilities, almost anything can become a container for your plant babies.

In this image from my very own garden, I used a vintage wash tub as an alternative to a raised bed for my kale and lettuces. I love growing and cooking with kale. I use kale in my personal tortellini recipe that I make for my daughter on her visits.

No Drainage. No Problem.

If the object you want to use as a container lacks the proper drainage for your plants, you can easily create holes with a drill, as I have with this vintage wheelbarrow. Just look at that verbena flourish with a bit of rustic charm!

Get Creative.

Here are some suggestions of vintage and antique objects that might be used as a plant container. Thistle Patch Vintage Garden & Antiques is filled with neat finds like these. If you are struggling to com up with ideas, you can always stop by and consult with Renee during our normal business hours.
